The reality of the modern world is that electronic devices are increasingly impeding our ability to communicate with those closest to us. Technology seems to be taking more than what it gives us in benefits. This problem has fascinated New York-based photographer Eric Pickersgill.

It all started when he witnessed a father and his two daughters sitting together in a cafe, each of them absorbed in their phones. The mother stared sadly out of the window. Pickersgill decided it was time to raise awareness of this serious problem, and ended up creating a photography project with the title ’Removed’. He photographed scenes of everyday life but subsequently airbrushed out all evidence of technology.

You can’t help but stop and think when you see these.
