Scholar from South Africa studied the classic British tube and found traces of soft drugs. Shakespeare smoked weed. The researcher from South Africa Francis Tucker found that famous British playwright William Shakespeare smoked weed.

According to Rzeczpospolita, the scientist received 24 fragments of a pipe, which once belonged to the classic, and was found at his home in Stratford.

Gas chromatography found the chemical composition of the fragments. According to Takereya, in 4 out of 24 pieces of tubes of Shakespeare, he found traces of weed.

Elements of “weed” were also identified during study of other old pipes that were found in Stratford close to the house where Shakespeare lived. However, unlike most of the playwright, according to the researcher, the other residents smoked even cocaine.

This was proved by the chemical composition of ancient pipes. In those times the exotic coca leaves from Peru were brought by explorer Sir Francis Drake.
