For those of you lovely people who do not know me. I am harnaam kaur and i am 23 years old living in london. I have a condition called polycystic ovary syndrome which has led to hair growth on my face and body. Years ago As a young teen i removed my hair daily due to pressure from family, society and school bullies. As the years went on i became tired of conforming to societies “rules” i decided to not let bullying lead me to self harm and suicide…i decided to become happy. I took the decision to keep my facial and bodily hair..i found the strength and confidence inside of me to be free and love myself as i was. I love my beard ? I stopped hating my body and i started loving every single part of me. I See beauty in everything….i see love in everyone…and i find love in every soul ? you are beautiful just the way you are xxx I am now free..i am now happy…i am now HARNAAM KAUR…i am in love X

Harnaam Kaur has been living with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) since she was 11 years old. The condition causes a hormonal imbalance, and in Harnaam’s case this manifests as a full beard and mustache.

Although London-based Harnaam initially waxed and shaved her beard, she eventually grew to see it as a source of strength and now allows her facial hair to grow freely.

This intrigued wedding photographer  Louisa Coulthurst, who decided to feature Harnaam in a series of wedding-style shots: “I had always been intrigued by the thought of floral beards and a thought came to me — wouldn’t it be cool to have a floral beard on a woman.”

Harnaam has learned to embrace her differences. “I have now fallen in love with the elements on my body that people may call ‘flaws,’” she told Rock N Roll Bride.

“I used to keep my beard for religious reasons, but now I keep my hair to show the world a different, confident, diverse, and strong image of a woman,” says Harnaam.

“We need to realize that every one of us is different. We are all imperfectly perfect.”
