Among the photographers who accompanied the brilliant Sophia Loren throughout her life, Alfred Eisenstaedt held a special place. For a long time, he worked for “Life“ magazine — the result of this was that the face of this wondrous movie star appeared on its cover seven times during the 1950s and 1960s. But in his private archives, the photographer still had plenty of unpublished photos. A lot of them were taken during private, everyday meetings with Loren.

We picked out a few of these exclusive photos for you here. They let you see this Italian goddess from a different perspective — more natural, beyond the glamour.

Sophia Loren described her her friendship with Eisenstaedt in the following way: ”My acquaintance with Eisie was love at first sight. He became my shadow. But he never tried to interfere in my life. He just took pictures and smiled. He was as happy with me as I was with him.”
