Let Your Steak Do the Drinking for Once and Get a Taste of Awesomeness!

Its not every day that you use a little Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey and some Coca-Cola in your Steak Marinade, but you will definitely be happy that you did.

This is one of those delectable treats you will want to make over and over again.

Ever heard the story about the T-bone steak soaked in Coca-Cola overnight, and the next morning the steak was gone? I was talking about that one day with some friends, and it sounded like nonsense to me. But I couldn’t help but get sucked into the idea that there might be something to it that would create a tender steak so I decided to try it. I like steak and I like Coke, so I figured it would probably taste good if nothing else. Well, a funny thing happened on my way to the marinade. It was a Saturday afternoon, and I was imbibing in a Coke with a little bit of Jack Daniel’s whiskey in it. As I was preparing the bowl of Coke for the steak, it seemed like an obvious move to add a little of the Jack Daniel’s to my marinade. I used a ribeye instead of a T-bone, but it didn’t matter in the end. The steak was all still there in the morning. The truth is the Coke didn’t seem to do anything to the texture at all, but the Jack and Coke did impart a great taste.

2 boneless ribeye steaks, 1 1/2” thick
2 cups Coca-Cola
2 ounces Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
Salt and pepper

The night before you plan to cook, combine the Jack and Coke in a nonreactive dish. Lay the steaks in the dish, and flip them occasionally while marinating. Keep the dish covered. Prepare the grill direct and hot. Right before the steaks go on, add some BBQr’s Delight Jack Daniel’s flavored wood pellets, if desired. Remove the steaks from the marinade and pat dry. Season liberally with salt and pepper. Grill to desired doneness. Remove to a platter. Let the steaks rest 2-3 minutes before serving.
