Stretching your back muscles whilst lying down is a very simple, basic exercise you can do which is often recommended by both doctors and athletes. It might finally help you to stop slouching and stooping, and in turn get rid of back pain. So if you would like to have the perfect body posture, this one’s for you. What’s more, this is an ideal exercise for those of you who spent a lot of your time sitting in the office.

We’re planning to start doing this on the carpet every morning before work.

Starting position: Lie on your front, placing your head against the floor. Stretch your arms out along the length of your body at the sides, pressing your palms against your hips. Straighten your arms at the elbows, whilst keeping your legs slightly apart.

  • Breathe out. Carefully lift your head, chest and the upper part of your belly up from the floor, whilst keeping your arms and legs in the same position.
  • Breathe in. Carefully lower your body and head back down to the floor, assuming the starting position. Repeat this exercise ten times.

If you do this exercise just three times a week, you will be able to significantly strengthen the muscles in your back, stomach, and buttocks. Apart from helping you to stop slouching, it will also have a positive effect on the health of your internal organs, and overall you’ll feel a whole lot better from day to day.
