UFO, alien, extraterrestrial, etc. Why these words bother us so much? Why are we so interested in real evidence (whether it really take place) of knowing truth about extraterrestrial objects or creatures? Why such a lot of people every year are witnessing some paranormal things that sometimes can’t be explained by scientists, defects of the camera, our conciousness or atmospheric phenomenons?

As for me, there are two major reasons why people are so interested and really believe in this strange and mysterious stuff:
- It is really hard to imagine such a fact that in the Universe we are exceptional race, so to say an endemic species all over the Universe. In my opinion, it is a bit hard to say yes with the fact that we are alone in the Universe especially if we take into account size of the Universe.
- If we count quantity of stars which are in our galaxy (something like 200 billions or even more) and let’s suppose that half of these stars have planets (and not fact that only one) (as we know that in the Solar system there are 8 planets and one dwarf planet – Pluto), we will get a very large amount of planets that exist only in the Milky Way).
- Furthermore, let us suppose that the estimated quantity of galaxies all over the universe is about 100 billion. So if we multiply an average number of planets in our galaxies to number of galaxies in the Universe we will get an approximate number of planets in the Universe – 2×10^22.
- So can we suppose that somewhere in the Universe there is no such a planet as we have? Can we suppose that there is no planet with even better conditions for genesis of life and maintaining it? As for me, noone can safely say about our exceptionality.
- Another reason that explained our interest in aliens and UFOs is that a lot of people are afraid of them. They suppose that aliens might be not very peaceful creatures. Some people consider that extraterrestrials will kill human race or will perform some experiments with humanity.
- We shouldn’t deny such a fact that aliens in general can be step beyond our level of development. So this scenario is possible to some extent. By the way, a lot of writers (Gerbert Wells, for example) predicted such scenario for humankind. Besides, there are a lot of referencies of something mysterious and unexplained in all our religions.
So are we so exceptional?
